Please take a look at the pages on this website and make a decision on what you plan to do personally to reduce your carbon footprint. Some people feel very strongly about Climate Change and want to make radical changes to their lifestyle and get as close as possible to a Zero Carbon Footprint. We applaud those that can do this but if every one of us did this from tomorrow, there would be a huge impact on the economy and society in general. Therefore, most of us will probably take a more gradual approach. Having said that, “the clock is ticking” and we have a very short time to reduce our carbon emissions, or the earth could reach a “Tipping Point” where climate change could become unstoppable and make life impossible. As a result, we would encourage everyone to consider going as far as possible. At the very least, we would encourage everyone to have their own personal plan.

Everyone’s plan will be different. Your priorities will be set by the amount of money that you have (Solar Panels and Electric Cars are not cheap) and your personal circumstances. Some will be happy to become Vegan whereas for others, that idea fills them with horror. Similar thoughts may come to your mind when considering changing your car or reducing the amount that you fly. But whatever your budget and priorities, take a few minutes to think about what you are currently doing that generates carbon emissions and how you could reduce this over the next year.
We have now produced a Personal Plan Template as an Excel Spreadsheet that you can download. The first Tab gives you some hints and tips on how to complete the Plan. The second Tab allows you to calculate your Carbon Footprint and the final Tab provides some structure to complete your Plan. You can download the Template from here.
To calculate your own personal carbon footprint, we suggest that you use the calculator provided by Carbon Footprint Limited. You can find it here.
If you would like help in completing your Plan, using the Template spreadsheet or completing the data in the Calculator, please contact one of the WCCCG team.
We will share some of the plans of group members over the next few months in the Case Study section of the website.
